On Revival: Hebrew Literature Between Life and Death

February 11 | 6:00 pm7:30 pm EST

Roni Henig in conversation with Shaul Magid, Mikhal Dekel and Naomi Seidman

Join author Roni Henig as she discusses her latest release, On Revival, a critique of the discourse of language revival in modern Hebrew literature. Rather than embracing “revival” as a neutral, descriptive term, Henig takes a critical approach, employing close readings of canonical texts to analyze the primary tropes used to articulate this aesthetic and political project of “reviving” Hebrew. Henig is joined by Shaul Magid (Distinguished Fellow in Jewish Studies at Dartmouth College), Mikhal Dekel (Director of the Rifkind Center for Humanities and the Arts, City College of New York) and Naomi Seidman (Jackman Humanities Professor, University of Toronto).
