Writing Matters: How to Reach a Wider Readership

Event Description:

Writing Matters: How to Reach a Wider Readership

How do we make our ideas come alive and reach a wider readership? Writing Matters, a year-long workshop of eight sessions, will help NYU graduate students and faculty develop a writing style that reaches beyond jargon and wooden prose.

This round table, the series’ launch event, brings together a trade editor, a non-fiction writer, journalists, and scholars who have written for academic and non-academic readers. Among other topics, they will discuss voice, style, structure, reading experiences, and the interplay between form, narrative, and presentation of information.

Featuring:

Martha Hodes

Moderated by Mel Bavaria (journalist and Ph.D. student, French Studies and History, NYU) and Stéphane Gerson (Professor of French Studies, French, and History, NYU).
