Saidan Thapa is a GLS major with a concentration in law, ethics, history, and religion. Witnessing her father’s experiences as a Nepali immigrant and engaging deeply with immigrant and refugee communities through work with Integrated Refugee & Immigrant Services and the New Haven Immigrants Coalition, she learned how immigrants’ experiences with the U.S. legal system shaped their sense of identity, belonging, and community. At NYU, Saidan is interested in exploring the intersections and tensions between religion, international human rights, and the law for marginalized communities in South Asia and the Middle East.
