Review Criteria and Funding Priorities
This program prioritizes applications that demonstrate the potential to make meaningful scholarly, artistic, or public contributions in the arts and humanities, whether through publications, exhibitions, performances, community engagement, or extramural funding applications, or other outcomes appropriate to the field.
The following criteria will be considered by the Selection Committee when reviewing applications:
I. Proposed Project
- Does the proposal articulate an important and original project?
- Is the proposed topic presented in a clear, detailed, well-organized way?
- Is the project plan feasible?
- Is the budget appropriate and reflective of real needs?
II. Project PI/Co-PIs
- Considering the PI’s and (if applicable) Co-PI’s scholarly, artistic, and creative contributions to date, as demonstrated through publications, books, exhibitions, performances, awards and honors, public engagement, and any other forms of professional achievement, are they able to carry out the proposed work successfully?
III. Potential Impact
- Will the proposed work significantly advance the PI’s/Co-PI’s scholarly, artistic, or creative trajectory?
- Does the proposed work have the potential to make a significant scholarly, artistic, intellectual, or public contribution? Will the project contribute to the visibility and intellectual or artistic vitality of the field and broader NYU community?
