List and System: Studies in Enumerative Thinking
Eesha Kumar studies enumeration, classification, and taxonomy through unexpected literary and philosophical sources. Her dissertation List and System: Studies in Enumerative Thinking juxtaposes materials rarely studied together—Sanskrit poetics, theories of caste, and western philosophy—to demonstrate the power of enumeration and its importance for thinking. Her writings on language philosophy, epistemology, and translation have appeared or are forthcoming in Philological Encounters, Qui Parle, and Journal of Comparative Literature and Aesthetics, among other venues.
