Manuela Luengas Fonseca is a rising senior double-majoring in Global Liberal Studies and Philosophy. Her research focuses on the intersection of human rights, memory studies, sustainable placemaking, and migration. She pairs theory with practice through her work at the International Rescue Committee and her social impact project, Out-Place-Collective—an initiative that aims to democratize public spaces and mobilize the reclamation of underused urban areas. The project advocates for an individual’s right to the city, particularly for immigrants and refugees, by transforming urban commons into places of cosmopolitan care.
