Marion Katz is a Professor of Middle Eastern and Islamic Studies who joined the NYU faculty in 2002. She has a PhD in Near Eastern Languages and Cultures from the University of Chicago. Her primary focus is on the premodern history of Islamic law, with intersecting interests in gender and ritual.
