The Sonogram Regime and the Pregnant Self. Mediations between the Expectant and the Expected Body in Latin American Art and Literature

Tatiana Rojas Ponce studies obstetric ultrasound as a technology of the self, working at the intersection of literary and visual studies, media theory, psychoanalysis, and medical humanities. Her dissertation assembles a heterodox archive of Latin American artworks, propaganda, medical writing, and pregnancy memoirs to trace what she terms “the ultrasound program.” She is also a human rights activist and documentary filmmaker; her #Darien won Best Student Film at the 2024 Society for Visual Anthropology Film & Media Festival.
