May Yao, also known as Shiyi Yao, is a senior double majoring in Classical Civilization & Anthropology (a joint major) and German, with a minor in Documentary. She was born and raised in Shanghai, China, but she currently resides in New York City for her studies. May has a wide range of interests, including drawing, reading (with a focus on literature), watching old films, and taking photos. In addition, she recently started making short films this year. Her academic passions lie in the field of Humanities, particularly in topics related to history and cultures, urban space development, and the discourse of memory.
