Dance and Media, Culture and Communications

Avery Smith, originally from Los Angeles, is currently studying at NYU where she is receiving a BFA in Dance at Tisch School of the Arts with a double major in Media, Culture and Communications from the Steinhart School of Culture, Education and Human Development. She grew up dancing competitively for 10 years and has danced internationally in Mexico, Italy and Austria. As an artist, Avery is focusing on the intersection of how art can be used as a channel to influence social change. Avery is particularly interested in using performance engages with larger cultural conversations.
