Chris Straayer in an associate professor in the Martin Scorsese Department of Cinema Studies, where he has taught video art, film theory, film noir/neo noir, representations of madness, and auteur studies of Pedro Almadóvar, David Cronenberg, Michael Haneke, and the Coen Brothers. His research is interdisciplinary, combining cinema studies with interests in cultural studies, art, and social science. His book, Deviant Eyes, Deviant Bodies, was published by Columbia University Press and he has published numerous chapters in anthologies and journal articles.
