From the Deathbed to the Mourning Diary: The Aesthetics of Ordinary Loss in Contemporary French Literature

Jessica Smietana earned her MA in French at the University of Illinois at Chicago. After working as an English Teaching Assistant in the Académie de Versailles for two years, she began her Ph.D in NYU’s French department in Fall 2019. She specializes in modern and contemporary French literature, and is currently writing her dissertation ““From the Deathbed to the Mourning Diary: The Aesthetics of Ordinary Loss in Contemporary French Literature”
